佩佩·罗梅罗生于西班牙马拉加，是罗梅罗"吉他家族"的次子。佩佩的吉他老师就是他的父亲--享有盛名的的塞雷多尼奥·罗梅罗。
1958年，佩佩·罗梅罗一家移居美国加州之后，佩佩与他的父亲及兄弟一起建立了古典吉他组合--罗梅罗四重奏。尽管佩佩以其古典吉他的演奏闻名遐迩，但他对于故乡安达鲁西亚传统的弗拉门科音乐始终充满了激情。
作为著名的古典吉他独奏家，佩佩曾与世界上著名的指挥和久负盛名的乐团合作过。佩佩·罗梅罗那动人心魄的诠释和高超的技巧使其闻名遐迩，也经常使他的吉他独奏会及与管弦乐队的合作炙手可热。罗梅罗先生在古典吉他领域的贡献激发了众多著名的作曲家专程为他谱写作品。
